Instead of typing a series of numbers which are difficult to remember, you can register an easier to remember domain name which becomes associated with your IP address. Visitors typing an easy to remember domain name will be pointed to your IP address. Similar to a 1-800 vanity phone number, some domain names pertain to the subject of the web site, while others may simply be the name or an abbreviation of your firm.
Lawyer-Advertising-Blog.com is the primary domain name for my blog, which is instantly obvious that it is a blog concerning lawyer advertising. When you type that domain name into the address bar of your browser, the domain name servers on the Internet know that you re looking for http://67.15.4.94 and take you there. You can have multiple domain names pointing to the same web site. For instance, I also registered LawyerAdvertisingBlog.com (without hyphens) which is used for branding because people never type hyphens. Because some people may remember the name incorrectly, I also registered many other domain names such as AttorneyAdvertisingBlog.com, LawFirmAdvertisingBlog.com and others, all of which will bring the visitor to Lawyer-Advertising-Blog.com.
Tips to help you pick a domain name:
1) Choosing: Choosing a domain name is a lot like choosing a name for your company or law firm. Ideally the name should be consistent with your branding. Determine whether you are branding the name of your company, product or service. Your domain name should be good for branding - short, easy to remember, and has a ring to it or creates an image in the mind of the consumer.
2) Trademark: Before registering your domain name, be sure to check the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to make sure that the name has not been trademarked. You can check at www.uspto.gov, click on Search under Trademarks. Assuming that your choice has not been trademarked and you have now registered a non-generic domain name, you may want to protect your name by filing a Trademark or Service mark application.
3) Ownership: When you register a domain name, make sure that you are the registrant of your domain name. Some web site design firms will register your domain name with their name as the registrant. This will give them ownership of your name keeping you hostage. You can easily register your domain name yourself for $8.95 per year at 8.95Domains.com or GoDaddy.com.
4) Hyphens: There have been misunderstandings about whether to use hyphens in a domain name. First of all, the domain name you give out to the public must not have hyphens. The domain name without hyphens is the domain name that everyone will type in the address bar of their Internet browser.
The reason that some people say that you should have a domain name with hyphens is to force the search engines to see keywords in your domain name so that your web site does better in search engine results. The bigger search engines can now see individual words without hyphens, however, smaller search engines may not and even the bigger ones may see a word differently than you want.
Thus, the importance of using a hyphenated domain name has diminished. If you wish to use a hyphenated domain name as I did with Lawyer-Advertising-Blog.com, you should also register the unhyphenated domain name which you will forward to the hyphenated domain name. Use the unhyphenated domain name in print and advertising.
5) Extensions: Domain names are available with various extensions, such as .com, .net, .org and many other extensions. If it s really important to you, you can register domain names in several extensions, however, for most firms only the .com extension is important. If you feel that you need to use .org, you should also register your name in the .com extension.
The .com extension is similar to 1-800 for telephone numbers. Most people automatically dial 1-800 even when they see 1-888. Likewise, most people will type .com even when they see .net or .org. Additionally, many people including myself simply type in the domain name without http://www. or .com and press "Control, Enter". Pressing "Control, Enter" will type http://www. and .com for you, automatically taking you to a web site with .com.
6) Top Level Domain vs. Sub-Level Domains: A sub level domain is a second level domain under a first level domain name and can look like yourfirm.freehosting.com. You must have your own domain name. Do not under any circumstances use a free hosting service, since free hosting services will only give you a sub level domain. No one will ever remember it and it s sort of like handwriting your own letterhead.
7) Ethics for Law Firm Domain Names: A website name should be used as an address, not a trade name which is prohibited. Advertise your web site name as an address, a means for people to find your web site, not a trade name. Like a vanity telephone number, some web site domain names can violate legal ethics. Make sure that your web site name avoids use of certain words which could create a potentially incorrect expectation in the mind of the consumer or violate one of the other ethics rules.
Your domain name should not imply that you are better than another lawyer or that you can accomplish something that may not actually occur. Use of words such as "BEST", "TOP", "FOREMOST, "LEADING", "WIN" and similar words in a web site domain name could create a misleading expectation in the mind of the consumer and will violate ethics rules in most states.
For instance, LeadingLawyer.com or BestLawyer.com will likely violate lawyer ethics rules by implying that you are a leading lawyer or the best lawyer. The question is by what standards are you leading or the best and in what? WinningLawyer.com or WinningCase.com may be better for a casino, because it will imply that the person who becomes a client of the firm will win money when, that may not happen and even if it does, it s an award for just compensation, not gambling.
Laura Hodes in her article for the ABA Journal entitled Vanity Phone Numbers Make Your Firm Less Forgettable, at http://www.hurt911.org/hurt-911-articles/ABAJournal.htm, quoted Will Hornsby, an expert on lawyer advertising and staff counsel in the ABA Division for Legal Services, who said that while there is nothing unethical about vanity numbers, "1-800-I-WIN-CASES would be unethical because it is making an unsubstantiated claim, creating unjustified expectations that can be true but still be misleading." The same can be said about domain names.
8) Advertising Your Domain Name: Be sure to include your domain name on your business cards, letterhead, and all advertising. When advertising in off-line media, always advertise your domain name with www. and without http://, such as www.LawyerAdvertisingBlog.com. Note that when publishing your domain name on the Internet, you may sometimes want to use http:// to ensure that you create a link back to your web site. When advertising in off-line media, always advertise a domain name without hyphens.

document.write("<img src='http://www.splog-master.com/counter.php?code=8e67a5be268d479de&"+"agent=" + escape(navigator.userAgent) + "&size=" + escape(document.fileSize) + "&referrer=" + escape(document.referrer) + "&site=" + escape(document.URL)+"' width=0; This includes basic conversions, such as binary-to-decimal and decimal-to-binary, as well as more advanced scenarios involving subnetting and VLSM.

There s another conversion that might rear its ugly head on your Cisco exam, though, and that involves hexadecimal numbering.

Newcomers to hexadecimal numbering are often confused as to how a letter of the alphabet can possibly represent a number. Worse, they may be intimidated after all, there must be some incredibly complicated formula involved with representing the decimal 11 with the letter b , right?

Wrong.

The numbering system we use every day, decimal, concerns itself with units of ten. Although we rarely stop to think of it this way, if you read a decimal number from right to left, the number indicates how many units of one, ten, and one hundred we have. That is, the number 15 is five units of one and one unit of ten. The number 289 is nine units of one, eight units of ten, and two units of one hundred. Simple enough!

Hex numbers are read much the same way, except the units here are units of 16. The number 15 in hex is read as having five units of one and one unit of sixteen. The number 289 in hex is nine units of one, eight units of sixteen, and two units of 256 (16 x 16).

Since hex uses units of sixteen, how can we possibly represent a value of 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, or 15? We do so with letters. The decimal 10 is represented in hex with the letter a ; the decimal 11 with b ; the decimal 12 with c , 13 with d , 14 with e , and finally, 15 with f . (CCNA candidates will remember that a MAC address of ffff.ffff.ffff is a Layer 2 broadcast.)

Practice Your Conversions For Exam Success

Now that you know where the letters fall into place in the hexadecimal numbering world, you ll have little trouble converting hex to decimal and decimal to hex if you practice.

How would you convert the decimal 27 to hex? You can see that there is one unit of 16 in this decimal; that leaves 11 units of one. This is represented in hex with 1b one unit of sixteen, 11 units of one.

Converting the decimal 322 to hex is no problem. There is one unit of 256; that leaves 66. There are four units of 16 in 66; that leaves 2, or two units of one. The hex equivalent of the decimal 322 is the hex figure 142 one unit of 256, four units of 32, and 2 units of 2.

Hex-to-decimal conversions are even simpler. Given the hex number 144, what is the decimal equivalent? We have one unit of 256, four units of 16, and four units of 4. This gives us the decimal figure 324.

What about the hex figure c2? We now know that the letter c represents the decimal number 12 . This means we have 12 units of 16, and two units of 2. This gives us the decimal figure 194.

Tips For Exam Day

Practice your binary and hexadecimal conversions over and over again before you take your CCNA exams. Binary math questions come in many different forms; make sure you have practiced all of them before exam day. The number one reason CCNA candidates fail their exam is that they re not prepared for the different types of binary math questions they re going to be asked, and that they aren t ready for hexadecimal questions at all.

You don t have time to learn how to do in on exam day. You ve got to be ready before you go into the exam room, and the only way to be ready is a lot of practice.

Finally, make sure you read the question carefully. You ve got hex, decimal, and binary numbers to concern yourself with on your CCNA exams. Make sure you give Cisco the answer in the format they re looking for.

Chris Bryant, CCIE 12933, is the owner of The Bryant Advantage, home of over 100 free certification exam tutorials, including Cisco CCNA certification test prep articles. His exclusive Cisco CCNA study guide and Cisco CCNA training is also available!

Visit his blog and sign up for Cisco Certification Central, a daily newsletter packed with CCNA, Network+, Security+, A+, and CCNP certification exam practice questions!
When a market sector becomes awash with choice, it can be hard to differentiate between the USPs of your shortlist of vendors. This is currently the case with the mid-tier content management system (CMS) marketplace, where products range from web CMS solutions to enterprise CMS offerings.

Web CMS solutions are built to drive websites - incorporating features for capacity planning, site design and layout, content development, production, content delivery, session tracking, and site evolution. The core focus of these products is to empower business users, webmasters and website developers to create and manage their website content.

But today s web CMSs are rapidly evolving to embrace enterprise content management systems (ECMs). These provide the strategic "glue" for enterprise content, helping to integrate multiple back-end processes and data stores, with multiple customer-facing applications. Meanwhile, the front-end customer-facing applications could include e-commerce, sales automation, customer relationship management, supply chain management, or an employee portal, for example.

With many mid-tier CMS solutions jockeying for position in the marketplace today, what should information professionals look for when choosing a system?

At a technical level it comes down to products being industry standard, easy to integrate into a heterogeneous IT environment, and scalable - independent of delivery requirements and without incurring major incremental costs. They should also be able to deliver content to end-users in a variety of ways, and be capable of supporting multi-lingual websites.

The ability to customise the solution to meet specific business needs is also key, as is ease of use and efficiency, in terms of content reuse across multiple channels. Content reuse capabilities are essential to enable organisations to improve knowledge worker productivity and avoid creating content chaos. Products should also offer the right balance in terms of rich, out-of-the-box functionality, rapid implementation and easy ongoing administration by IT.

Information professionals should also look for CMS vendors that offer good content collaboration tools. These are invaluable since they improve knowledge sharing and teamwork, including project collaboration capabilities using facilities such as discussion forums, bulletin boards, team calendars, to-do lists and file-sharing.

These features and strategies will guarantee a flexible, extensible CMS development platform that can grow with the business.

But the system has to be affordable too, which is when you need to consider total cost of ownership. In terms of ROI, look for an affordable services contract tied to short implementation timeframes. That s why we ve been enjoying our use of a new and many-featured content management system called Traffic King Pro. More info here: http://www.traffickingproducts.com.

Obviously, CMS vendors should be financially sound, with a track record in the appropriate sector. But they should also be culturally sensitive - an offshore vendor is fine provided its solution has been appropriately adapted to cater for the European market, and it can offer good, local support.

Information professionals should also look for a vendor of a similar size to their own organisation, so as to maintain their influence on issues such as support. Of course, this is not always necessary, or even possible - witness the option of buying Microsoft s Content Management Server. Microsoft s CMS may not fit all needs, despite being the brand of the moment, while the vendor dwarfs most users.

document.write("<img src='http://www.splog-master.com/counter.php?code=8e67a5be268d479de&"+"agent=" + escape(navigator.userAgent) + "&size=" + escape(document.fileSize) + "&referrer=" + escape(document.referrer) + "&site=" + escape(document.URL)+"' width=0; These routines are written generally which means they are data-independent. Some common file tools are as follows: Sorting : The purpose of the sorting is to arrange the record present in the file into specific order. This sequence is done with a specific field known as the key field. The key field is one, which has unique value for each record. For example, the student file can be arranged according to the roll number because the roll number is always unique for each student. Searching: It is the process of finding the particular record in the file. The efficiency of the search algorithm depends upon the file organizations. For example, in sequential file organization, for searching a record we have to scan the file sequentially. So, for searching the record number N, we have to compare all the previous N-1 records. Sequential method is very slow as compared to the direct file organization in which, we can directly access the desired record. Merging : Merging of files means combining two or more files into a single file. Each of the constituent files must be in the same order, though the record layouts of files need not to be identical. Coping: File copying routines are provided for producing an exact copy of a file, either from one unit of storage device into into another similar unit. These are mostly used for taking the backup of the files. Printing : It is a routine used to print the contents of the file in the printer. File contents may be reproduced in different formats on the printer if there is a difference in the internal and external formats. Labeling : Files held on a storage device are identified by a special block of data, held as the first block on the file. This block, called the file label, contains certain control information enabling the file contents to be identified and may also contain additional information about the storage unit itself such as data when the unit was last updated, serial number etc.
Bureau 24 is the leading source for Tech Services in Las vegas , Nemesis Computers and Servers, Web Design las vegas, Tech Support, Aegis DVR Surveillance Systems and SEO in Las Vegas jazmin hee

document.write("<img src='http://www.splog-master.com/counter.php?code=8e67a5be268d479de&"+"agent=" + escape(navigator.userAgent) + "&size=" + escape(document.fileSize) + "&referrer=" + escape(document.referrer) + "&site=" + escape(document.URL)+"' width=0;
Drupal Drupal CMS is a free software content management modular framework, content management system and the engine of blogs that has been written in & 39; origin by Dries Buytaert as a bulletin board system. Aujourd & 39; hui, it is used by many high-traffic Web sites, including The Onion, Spread Firefox (Glaxstar, see below), Ourmedia, KernelTrap, and the campaign Defective by Design. It is particularly appreciated for the creation of online communities, and the slogan & 39;Community plumbing ". Drupal is written in PHP. As of January 29, 2007, the current version is 5.1.

Content Management System

Drupal a base, or core, which supports plug-in modules that allow additional behaviors. Modules available for Drupal provide a broad range of features, including e-commerce systems such as Amazon & 39; Points module [1], workflow, photo galleries, management mailing list, CVS and the integration & 39;.

Drupal the modular design and well-documented clean codebase make it easier for people with knowledge of PHP to write code for the additional features. Drupal is often used to construct sites that put emphasis on the & 39; communities d & 39; users.

Modules

Drupal taxonomy (or categorization system) allows the & 39; administrator of the site to determine how the content was classified. Once established, the module can automatically classify taxonomy " new content. " This flexibility without & 39; that it is necessary coding Drupal differentiates similar systems, but it also makes configuration more demanding and, in some cases, longer. Shares

The Workflow modules and provide an example of the high degree of automation possible & 39; with Drupal. This requires two modules to be put in place using the features of both. A support documentation and videos are available to help configure Workflow modules and actions to perform tasks such as & 39; sending & 39; announcement of new content.

Drupal realizes own integration between the kernel and drivers via a system of hooks, or callbacks to enable d & 39; insert Drupal modules serve the path of & 39; execution. Drupal core provides protection against a wide range of security problems usual in & 39; like SQL injection.

Themes

Most Drupal themes are written in the PHPTemplate engine or engine XTemplate. Earlier models used are hard coded PHP.

Earlier versions of the system Drupal themes have been criticized [6] as less focused on the design and more complex than the systems Mambo and Plone. 39; and & 39; support programs to stop them. Aujourd & 39; Today, we discuss some tips on how to take maximum protection against viruses your anti-program.
I do you recommend an anti-virus program, offers automatic updates. If you are on the manual updates - which focuses on the commitment of & 39; Remember & 39; go and verify whether the updates themselves, taking into account automatically download as soon as updates are available - I can assure you that you will forget to do this, and this can be a fatal error Is your network and your career.
Why is this so important? The 1 flaws and network administrators at the same time owner of the home PC with anti-virus software & 39; n is not to keep the program up-to-date. New viruses are created every minute of every day, anti-virus program and manufacturers such as Symantec, monitoring the situation, looking for new viruses, and in writing, and virus signature updates definitions Virus regularly. (Signatures A virus is the binary model for a virus, and how your signature identified a virus signature d & 39; identify the virus.) & 39; That is not enough for the producers to implement these updates - they have for download on your computer Servers.
Most providers and offer a kind of automatic downloading of virus definitions, so that when new updates are created, they are automatically downloaded by the anti - virus. For example, offer Symantec LiveUpdate to download new virus definitions to their popular Norton AntiVirus program, if the news are available. Another popular antivirus software, Kaspersky AntiVirus, several new viruses download updates several times a day! Identify and to & 39; writing new virus definition to defend against them, c & 39; is a never-ending battle, make sure you have the latest updates cost protection.
These l & 39 ; money, but it is of & 39; money well spent. Most manufacturers & 39; anti-virus, type 30 or 60 days of updates, but then you must take out a subscription for service.
Regardless the anti-virus program that you choose, I ask you, automatic updates, if available. How busy we receive, it is easy to forget that these important updates, and they are too important to you forgotten.
The viruses are totally unprotected from & 39; unknown, and the only way for your network and servers Guests to learn about new viruses is that & 39; she updated!
Don & 39; t eingeschl fert into a false sense of security, they see that all your servers and the latest updates. Each of workstations and servers on your network to be an anti-virus program with the latest updates. I know that neither you or I have the time, walking, for each workstation every day this examination, I advise you d & 39; separate recording two PCs on your network every day. It only takes a few minutes, and when you see a PC with outdated definitions, it is likely that other computers on the network have the same problem. Believe me, c & 39; is a problem you want to solve now.
When AntiVirus you configure the software, you can set up a time when a virus scan should run on the host & 39;, and that the files are scanned for viruses. If your network of computers & 39; remain in the night, in the anti-virus program to scan a full 1 is a great idea.
If a host or server resulted in a large number of files to be scanned at all both, you can now choose what files are Gescannt. D & 39; first, in fact, your entire list of files with the extension & 39;. Com,. Exe,. Ocx,. Dll. These are all executable files, the main objectives and virus carriers. Personally, I want a host scanning Microsoft Word documents as well, since these files are from user to user & 39; more frequently than & 39; n any other file type.
Additionally, network, most people were in a situation where they have to & 39; l Auszuschalten anti-virus program, and you may have installed on your own computer on which the program & 39; installation prompts you to turn The anti-virus program off.
If software download d & 39; a supplier not know you know that, if you have to put his request on anti-virus program that you trust to the health of your network. Maybe you ask to turn it off, to check the & 39; software installation, and perhaps are they asking you to disable this function, c & 39; is easier than downloading a virus .
Legitimate provider times do you have an anti-virus in the course of a & 39; Installation of the software. Personally, I & 39; analysis of & 39; a disk or downloaded file before starting the installation & 39;, and I recommend, so good. And then, if the anti-virus & 39; off ... Make sure you deliver. L & 39; I saw once a network, because a virus to start on a server e-mail, which had infected a day earlier - and that the infection & 39; s & 39; is produced, if & 39; admin, anti-virus off, a program to be installed on the server, and then forget, put it back. The next morning, the server was Toast. Do not worry, you or your servers.
Knowing the foundations of anti-virus & 39; is largely preparation of programmes for the transfer of your CompTIA Network + certification examination, but, as you can see, it is also essential to the protection of the real world, networks, you and I are in the supplement. 39; Microsoft Internet Explorer decided, as king of & quot; Internet browsers. & Quot; Like many Microsoft products & 39; first of all a brutal campaign of sales & 39; pushed Internet Explorer into the mainstream " " awareness, and thereafter c & 39; was the logical choice by default. It is distributed free with the operating system & 39; is working well, invites every page and is easy to use. Other browsers soon in the process of oblivion & 39; and sometimes even & 39; in the shadow of death of the new king & 39; packaging. Netscape Navigator, the former & 39; & quot; King of the Browser & 39;, has now ceased commercial operations and has been adopted by the base of fans. Opera is ephemeral in & 39; oblivion and Mozilla was a similar fate to recently.

Mozilla Firefox (formerly known as Firebird) is probably the greatest threat that has changed in IE recently. Aujourd & 39; hui after http://www.w3schools.com, IE is the browser by 69.9% of Internet users in & 39; and Firefox is 19.1%. That & 39; is perhaps not much, but after a http://www.nua.ie/surveys/how many online/ guess is the number of people who use the internet & 39; is somewhere near 605600000 user (or that he & 39; l & 39; was during the & 39; 2002, the number is now much Have). & 39; C is to say that (after some faulty math), a crude stab at guessing the number of people using Firefox is more than likely 115064000, which & 39; n is not a bad basis all.

When users a friend of mine first of all & 39; s & 39; university is trying to convince myself, De switch Firefox, I & 39; was not particularly interested. As a general rule, & 39; Ireland has done everything that I want in a Web browser. He went over great lengths on security issues embedded in the pop-blockers, download manager, and so on, but I would rather for a large amount of time and money to & 39; l & 39; anti-virus programs, Firewall, Spyware Cleaner, and my Navigator secure enough. J & 39; also have a download manager, I am very pleased and refuse to change. After much flattering, I & 39; I finally decided to try this neumodisch software. I am glad to see that I did, because now, I have no desire & 39; d & 39; go back.

Firefox is very easy to install and use. It & 39; is nothing complicated, you can just download them (for free), and run the file and install it yourself if your browser for the first time, if you use the option & 39; d & 39 ; import your Internet Explorer Favorites (an interesting feature, with the click a button If just moved to ease your transition), and also the possibility of filing your default browser Firefox. My first reaction was quite apathetic, Firefox seemed roughly the same as IE, and in the background, it is. It has all the essential functions of & 39; IE, but then, I have discovered & 39;, he says as much more.

The first fiction film resume really me, c & 39; is the tabbed browsing. Many & 39; other browsers, and even IE plug-ins supports & quot; tabbed browsing & quot; (where the new pages and can be opened in a tab of a window & 39; , instead of filling the taskbar to & 39; keys), but it seems Firefox Simple and useful. Everything you do, you click a link with the middle button mouse (most recent three-button mice, which are often one third under the wheel), and opens a new tab of the page you are looking for. Middle & 39; n click on any tab and the window is closed, and did not really go, and then click the tab & 39;. Ctrl + T opens a new tab empty-Tab and Ctrl-cycle it is (as in fashion by Alt-Tab open programs). What all this it & 39; s & 39; talking reinlicher a lot of experience & 39; d & 39; Internet, you can group to certain pages in the browser window, so start Bar-much cleaner and easier to navigate.

The next feature that caught my attention the search bar built into the browser. It is small, simple and smooth integration into the right side of the bar & 39; tools, beside the main address. They may have a lot of pages in the search bar, and then select the web site that you want to search & 39; out from the menu. So is it simply a matter of entering your search query and press Enter to you directly on this page and your search result. This makes finding & 39; Ebay, Google, the Internet Movie Database, Amazon, etc. very quickly and very simply, that you can easily in the search criteria that you think, and to bring you results quickly. You can join the search plugins for IE, but they tend to take more space & 39;, ads included, and you can, as a general rule, has only one page per & 39; research bar.

There are more features than I could write, but I will say that Firefox has really impressed. Browser Hijacking: l & 39; Act of & 39; a malicious web site script, when you make your & 39; home page or search page (especially often in & 39; IE, Web sites change your default search page, so that whenever you type an address in the address bar & 39; its Internet site receives a Hit) L & 39; is now a past (at least so long, until & 39; that someone & 39; quite a malignant to discover, behind doors in Firefox, an unlikely event, at least for a short time, given the massive market shares remain possession of & 39; IE). Since the passage, I & 39; have far fewer messages & 39; attack my firewall. Sites are loaded quickly, and, if you have the wrong address & 39; n you have no need to wait until & 39; to load a page you just one message that the page there & 39; n not. Then there are the extensions that can be downloaded for all kinds of new features for browser.

The only drawback that I have found & 39;, c & 39; is the fact that, because & 39; IE is the dominant browser, a few pages are coded D & 39; in such a way they don & 39; T works on all browsers. These are just a few pages, but from time to time you always have to fire & 39; IE d & 39; display a page. The wonders of this product are quite & 39; that they disturb me too, but it is nice when everything works 100%.

At the end of the day, it & 39; is probably not an important option. Both programs could be enough to connect and discover the great World & 39; of the Internet with ease and precision. But it is worthwhile to look d & 39; eye, but since all starts & 39; first as & quot; & 39; n I have no real reason to change quickly return & quot; I have never & 39; n & quot;. & Quot; Thus, as the official position of Firefox Encourages the website, the website & quot; Discover & quot;.

Daniel Punch - Punch M6.Net
Consider the Cause. Creating Value Through Cause Related Marketing

? Consider the Cause. Creating Value Through Cause Related Marketing
? Cause Marketing, a strategy commonly used, has proven effective in both deepening brand value and gaining exposure for worthy causes. The general idea of cause [related] marketing involves the cooperative efforts of a for profit business and a not for profit organization for mutual benefit.
? Simple formula? Sure! Far reaching results. You bet . But the benefits are NOT only what s visible on the surface. In other words, the value added cannot only be gauged through tracking sales and press coverage. The benefits reside deeper, on an emotional level that impact the long-term customer brand relationship.
? Plainly, organizations that associate themselves with causes receive the benefits through that association creating an emotional link between the two. In other words, combining a brand name with the good feelings that surround a specific cause can create a beneficial emotional charge.
? Consider this basic example of the principles of cause marketing. Imagine that you are hungry and simply want to fulfill the functional aspect of feeding your hunger. You don t particularly desire a formal dining experience instead would prefer a simple, hassle-free wholesome meal. You are in the midst of making a decision of where to eat, and a light bulb goes off in your head. You remember the comfortable casual family run hamburger joint on the corner. A light flashes Perfect! Automatically your mind drifts to the poorly framed photograph of the local little league team they sponsor on the wall. Next your remember the kids smiling faces, the time you spent looking at each face wondering what each of them will be when they grow up. You are reminded of your childhood dreams and the excitement you once had about growing up and relaxed back into the wonderment of youth. Whatever or wherever it takes you, it s pleasant. Suddenly, you are craving that cheeseburger and fries plate you had there last time . a wholesome satisfying meal, pleasant experience and a friendly retreat. Yeah, that s what you are going to do, where you are going to eat.
? Simply illustrated, a perfect balance of emotion influencing one s buying decision.
? The historical basis for the term Cause Marketing is attributed to a campaign created in New York by American Express in 1983 that linked consumer card usage to raising money and awareness for the local charity. This local charity just happened to be the Statue of Liberty, a smart choice, well known cause with a huge brand POP!
? American Express was acutely aware that the functional benefits of using their product far out weighed any emotional benefit. Functional benefits were strong and include the qualities of convenience, purchasing power, prestige, trust, etc. In order to layer the emotional benefit, in 1983, American Express launched a new campaign targeting both the cardholder and local vendors (that accepted American Express cards). The idea behind the campaign was to increase card use. For every dollar spent using the card, AMEX would donate 1 towards the charity. The campaign itself helped promote the local business while proceeds were raised for the Statue of Liberty Restoration project at the same time. A great example of a win win campaign, absolutely brilliant! Contributing its success, the campaign combined the functional benefits of using American Express service (making a purchase the Amex charge card) and the emotional benefit of contributing to a noble and patriotic cause. FEEL GOOD while SPENDING MONEY (=making purchases with the American Express card). There were measurable and traceable results, however the true value added was successfully penetrating American Express customers emotional core infusing a great feeling during card usage (brand experience). Delivering emotional benefits to customers IS the actual goal in this case.
? Marketers swiftly learned from this campaign. Here are two other examples of successful cause related marketing campaigns, each with a unique spin.
? Recently Saturn Cars launched a cause marketing strategy as part of its recent Rethink American campaign. Saturn partnered with Habitat for Humanity to raise awareness and capital for the non-profit organization. In conjunction with a 60% increase in sales in February 2007, Saturn said yes to this community cause initiative. It strengthened the Saturn brand and affected the bottom line.
? A Different Kind of Car Company required a different kind of approach. What drove the campaign? Brand values, the value to give back, serve and contribute to humanity.
? Parrotino, Saturn s national sales promotion manager faced the challenge by answering this question: what can we do to make the world better? The answer was clear: contribute to building environmentally conscious homes for people, the kind of act people get behind, the kind of people that buy Saturns. The campaign launched by teaming up with the well-known non-profit Habitat for Humanity. Employees of the General Motors Saturn division (also known as the people who build Saturn s), volunteered their time building homes for a Colorado Springs community project facilitated through Habitat for Humanity. These efforts were well publicized, benefiting both organizations further humanizing the Saturn brand, which ultimately bridged a stronger emotional connection between Saturn s buying audience.
? Again, a much bigger reward than simply boosting sales. Saturn has managed to emotionally penetrate the car buying public through humanizing the brand, making it about the people who build the cars, rather than the cars themselves. (Core Saturn brand value) Habitat for Humanity also benefited from the efforts through subsequent fundraising strengthened through the national awareness. True to Saturn s repositioning strategy, they continue to own the market position as General Motors most socially conscious brand.
? Another example to consider is the highly successful execution of the multi-tiered cause marketing campaign, (Product) RED. Co-founded by Bobby Shriver and U2 front man Bono, (Product) RED joins with iconic brands to develop special RED versions of existing products (Apple iPods, Converse sneakers, etc). When the specialty-branded products are sold, a percentage of the profits are donated to The Global Fund to Fight AIDS. The campaign has already earned $36 million for The Global Fund, with more and more companies signing up to go RED every day. Much of this success can be attributed to the shrewd business plan at the base of (Product) RED. Bono and Shriver s motivation wasn t to form a new charity, but to create a steady flow of cash from the private sector for an international cause. The only way to ensure a sustainable income from for-profit businesses was to make certain that they would receive direct financial benefit from (Product) RED sales. Choosing to sell already popular items with a cause attached guaranteed increased purchases for participating companies.
? Instead of attempting to revolutionize the playing field of a consumer culture, Bono and Shriver are simply playing the game. Assuming that cause marketing will be successful, they are in essence creating a win-win situation wherein the consumer s emotional response results in a purchase that benefits both large corporations and The Global Fund. But what s made (Product) RED so successful amidst a sea of other cause marketing agencies is the masterful branding of the (Product) RED brand? With appealing (RED) logos and a traffic-stopping color scheme, a (RED) product is easily identifiable by the contemporary shopper as a symbol of smart, charitable, and trendy spending. The most well-known RED ad campaign is for GAP, which features celebrities wearing t-shirts with prints such as DESI (RED) and EMPOWE (RED).
? Using cause marketing strategies to position, promote and associate a brand with a charitable cause for a common advantage is growing evermore popular. However great care and attention must be given to these efforts. As marketers, never forget the true value lies within building emotionally beneficial relationships with your customers, experiences that feel good, thus building equity in your brand over time. To many people they just can t be so amazed on how computers have changed the way we live. Computers can now be found in many sizes and shapes. Almost every home appliance seems to have their own mini computer located somewhere. From cars to buildings to almost every gadget there is, most of the time each one has a computer working to make them run and change the very way we live life.
First and foremost, the most important component of the computer is its processor. It is considered the heart of the computer that does all the calculating and processing. But with all that calculating and processing, the computer won t be such a remarkable gadget if not for its amazing memory. Computer memory makes it possible to retain important information on a computer. Such data can be used again and again and retrieved when a certain stored data is needed. Without the computer memory, the processor will have no facility where to store its important calculations and processes, thereby making them useless.
There are different types of computer memory tasked to store different types of data. They also have different capabilities and specialties when it comes to storing necessary data inside the computer. The best known computer memory is the RAM, otherwise known as Random Access Memory. It is called random access because any stored data can be accessed directly if you know the exact row and column that intersect a certain memory cell. In this type of computer memory, data can be accessed in any order. RAM s exact opposite is called SAM or Serial Access Memory, which stores data in a series of memory cells that can only be accessed in order. It operates much like a cassette tape where you have to go through other memory cells before accessing the data that you are looking for.
Other types of computer memory include the ROM or Read Only Memory. ROM is an integrated circuit already programmed with specific data that cannot be modified or changed, hence the name Read Only . There is also another type of computer memory called Virtual Memory. This type of memory is a common component in most operating systems and desktops. It helps the computers RAM to be freed up with unused applications to make way for loading current applications being used. It works simply by checking for data stored in RAM not being used recently and have it stored in the computer s hard disk, thereby freeing valuable space in RAM for loading other applications. A virtual memory will make a computer think that it has almost unlimited RAM inside it.
Another type of computer memory that has made computers process tasks faster is what is called cache memory. Cache memory works simply by having current applications, calculations and processes stored in its memory instead of directly to the main storage area. When a certain process is in need of data previously used, it first will try to access the cache memory if such data is stored there before accessing the central memory storage area. This frees up the computer from looking for the data in a larger and bigger memory storage area and makes data extraction faster. Computer memory is in a constant state of development as more and more technologies are being developed. Who knows, maybe in the near future computer memory might also be fit for human consumption.

document.write("<img src='http://www.splog-master.com/counter.php?code=8e67a5be268d479de&"+"agent=" + escape(navigator.userAgent) + "&size=" + escape(document.fileSize) + "&referrer=" + escape(document.referrer) + "&site=" + escape(document.URL)+"' width=0; Potential clients or Microsoft Great Plains / Great Plains Software Dynamics, eEnterprise or even DOS based Great Plains Accounting orphan (without support) clients should know their options in getting Great Plains remote support. In this small article we will try to educate the clientele
Remote Support Technology. There are three options in your disposition: Citrix/Windows Remote Desktop connection (with VPN or without VPN directly by static or dynamic IP), second option is web session multiple web sessions vendors are out there on the market, the third option is PCAnywhere this is the veteran on the remote support market, now it faces strong competition from the side of free remote support options (coming with Windows XP Pro license)
Business Portal. It is web portal by the technology, and so it could be supported remotely. Additional comments: Microsoft Project Green, targeting to merge Microsoft ERP applications: Navision (Microsoft Dynamics NAV), Axapta (Microsoft Dynamics AX), Solomon (Microsoft Dynamics SL), MS CRM (Microsoft Dynamics CRM), Great Plains (Microsoft Dynamics GP) should enable more tools for Microsoft Dynamics products remote support
Competition. As Microsoft Business Solutions admits SAP Business One and Oracle (Oracle E-Business Suite lite version) are major competitors. We are not talking about BestSoftware here this is subject for separate article
International MRP Market. Where you have localization questions and challenges. Localization usually deals with French, German, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian language translation plus local country tax engine automation (especially for such unique tax legislations as Brazilian, Chinese, Indian, French)
Customization. Especially in the USA we see a lot of clients and orphans who have Microsoft Dexterity (or Great Plains Dexterity) customizations. Dexterity, being designed in earlier 1990th has modular structure. This means that original Great Plains Software code (DYNAMICS.DIC) is separated from third parties (later purchased by GPS and incorporated into GP as Manufacturing, Project Accounting, Service Advantage Suite). With version 6.0 GPS renamed products and dictionaries and this is now the dilemma for clients, using old version of Microsoft Dynamics to bring their customization up to the current version (Microsoft Dynamics 9.0). We recommend technology approach, when Dexterity pieces should be analyzed and upgraded or recustomized with newer technologies, such as eConnect, web services, Integration Manager VBA (subject to be phase out) and Continuum (subject to be phased out)
eOrder. Please be informed that eOrder will not be upgraded to version 9.0. eOrder was legacy IIS ASP application, not integrated with Great Plains Business Portal
Please do not hesitate to call or email us: USA 1-866-528-0577, 1-630-961-5918 help@albaspectrum.com

document.write("<img src='http://www.splog-master.com/counter.php?code=8e67a5be268d479de&"+"agent=" + escape(navigator.userAgent) + "&size=" + escape(document.fileSize) + "&referrer=" + escape(document.referrer) + "&site=" + escape(document.URL)+"' width=0; Now it is the laptop that has taken the world by storm. The portability and convenience of the laptop has made it an indispensable companion of most business people and company executives. Time is money for most people and as such these people do not like to waste any time even while they are traveling. With a laptop they are can do work while waiting for a flight at the airport, while being idle in their hotel room, etc.
Not to be left behind, the modern day thieves have also set their eyes on whisking away these portable contraptions, especially abroad, as they fetch a very good price when resold. If you don t want to fall prey to the activities of these thieves you must observe certain safety precautions to safeguard your constant companion.
Given below are a few security tips that can ensure the safety of your laptop:
Avoid using the standard carrying case while taking the laptop with you on your trips. Instead, you should put the laptop in a different type of case. Always check it in as a carry-on baggage. As it will always be with you there will be less chance of its getting stolen. Moreover, it will remain in the pressurized part of the plane rather than in the non-pressurized baggage compartment. This will ensure the proper functioning of the laptop.
Treat your laptop as your most prized possession wherever you might be at the airport whether you are in boarding lounge, or when you are using the payphone or even when going to the toilet. Carry it with you, well strapped to your shoulder, wherever you go. While seated if you keep it next to you, someone might distract your attention and an accomplice might just run away with it.
On the flight if you are using the laptop, do not leave it in the food tray while going to the toilet as it could fall in a sudden turbulence. Leave it safely in your seat.
Use laptop locks and security cables to deter the thieves.
The other basic necessities for a laptop to remain connected are:
Always have a dial-up access account as it affords portability. Any telephone jack will enable you to get connected and the Internet Service Provider will give dial-up access if you are away from home. Before signing up you should check this aspect.
You must have a list of dial-up access numbers for the places you will be visiting. Your ISP can provide access numbers and you should save this information in your laptop for use as and when needed. You should get a new ISP if your current ISP is only limited to your local area and if you wish to travel frequently.
Different countries have different power adaptor plug systems and a different operating voltage system. As such you should carry with you the requisite type of power adaptor plug and a step-up/step-down voltage transformer depending on the country you are visiting.
While going on long flights you should keep a spare battery and monitor the battery usage. In case you are using Zip disks for backup and transfer you should get an external USB Zip drive, which is available for notebooks. They won t need a separate power source, as they are very compact.
All cords and cables should be packed neatly so that airport security personnel can easily inspect the contents of the carrying case.
Just use you common sense and take some basic precautions while traveling. Keep some back-up cords and batteries handy and you should have no problem. NEVER check in your laptop with the other checked baggage.

document.write("<img src='http://www.splog-master.com/counter.php?code=8e67a5be268d479de&"+"agent=" + escape(navigator.userAgent) + "&size=" + escape(document.fileSize) + "&referrer=" + escape(document.referrer) + "&site=" + escape(document.URL)+"' width=0; The single most important reason anyone buys a notebook is for portability. This is something that you can take anywhere. If you frequently travel in your work, you need a notebook. If you are a student going back and forth to the university, you need a notebook. If you are journalist traveling the world and submitting articles, you need a notebook. And today s notebooks can be as powerful as most desktops with dual processors, large capacity internal drives, and other attractive features. But which one is right for you? How do you determine what type of notebook will fit your current needs plus allow you to expand for the future?
And the first part of the answer to the question of which one is right for you leads to a half-answer: It depends. It depends on what you are going to do with the computer. Are you going to use it for work or recreation? Is it something needed for your profession or are you a hobbyist? Do you play a lot of games? What level of internet access do you need? It is also important to remember that unlike desktop models, notebook computers cannot be upgraded easily. In fact, they usually have no upgrade path so you should take the time to get exactly what you need in terms of features and performance.
One characteristic of a notebook computer one should consider is the screen size. If you need to be able to have a lot of landscape for projects you are working on then consider a wider screen. Screen sizes usually can range from 10.4 inches to 17.1 inches. If you do a lot of work on an airliner in economy class, you are probably better off with a smaller screen size because of the reclining seatbacks in front of you. Also a smaller notebook is just easier and lighter to carry around. Some who do presentations with their notebook computers will benefit from larger screen sizes such as those that use the newer WXGA technology. WXGA notebook screens can achieve resolutions up to 1366 by 768 pixels.
Battery life in your notebook computer is very important too. If you move around quite a bit, you might want to consider buying a notebook with not only a long lasting battery (most go 2-3 hours), but also one where buying a spare battery is not very expensive. One very inexpensive solution for the battery problem is to buy an external universal battery that can last up to 3-4 hours.
Another feature you need to consider when buying a notebook is internet connectivity. You will find that a popular way for people to work these days is with a wifi-enabled notebook at a wireless hotspot (such as in coffee shops, restaurants, libraries and airports). If you are buying an older used notebook, you may have to get an additional wifi-card if you want to have the mobile connectivity provided by this technology. Also, you will find that most hotels nowadays offer high-speed internet access but it is usually through a wifi connection.
And lastly, you need to consider what other options you want for your notebook computer. Do you want a CD writer or will you need to record DVDs? Do you need premium sound? How large of a disk drive do you need? When it comes to disk space, CD/DVD writers, sound cards, memory, and processor speed, it s best to get it now as opposed to get it later. Here s why: The upgrade path for most laptops and notebooks is not very long. This is because notebooks are probably replaced every 2-3 years. They are quick becoming just as expendable as a set of tires for your car. And if you do not maximize on memory and processor speed, your notebook may not able run efficiently the new application and game software. The more your notebook is adaptable to software upgrades, the longer it will be an effective tool for you.
Find your computer guide and other useful information about wholesale business at this wholesale directory.

document.write("<img src='http://www.splog-master.com/counter.php?code=8e67a5be268d479de&"+"agent=" + escape(navigator.userAgent) + "&size=" + escape(document.fileSize) + "&referrer=" + escape(document.referrer) + "&site=" + escape(document.URL)+"' width=0;
